Tubigon garners 2nd CROWN by Reyna Omictin The Municipality of Tubigon once again bagged the Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) Award from the National Nutrition Council (NNC) which was awarded last November 9 at PICC. A delegation composed of the Nutirition Council of the Municipality: Municipal Health Officers Dr. Bob Bernabe Batausa of RHU 1 and Dr. Ana-Lorsha Villaber of RHU 2, Nutritionist-Dietitian Joanna Faye Boligao, BNS Coordinator Leony Marie Muga and Municipal Agriculturist Yolanda Labella, depart to Manila for the National Nutrition Awarding Ceremony on the morning of November 8. Local Chief Executive Engr. William Jao, together with First Lady Mrs. Eden Bagolor-Jao, graced the affair where Jao and company would receive “another win” for the municipality. Last April 17-20, a team of National Nutrition Evaluating Team (NNET) validated the records and documents as well as the projects of the municipality to confirm and endorse it to for the CROWN Maintenance Award. Tubigon received its first CROWN Maintenance Award last year of 2012 “if we win for the third time next year, we will vie for the National Honor Award,” explains Dr. Bob Bernabe Batausa. Several projects and implemented programs by the MNC paved the way to the success of the town, one of which is the breastfeeding program implementation. “We are blessed to have a supportive community, especially the barangay captains who have supported us in many ways,” says Johanna Faye Boligao. NUTRI MONTH ENDS WITH A GREEN BLAST BY: Reyna Omictin The month-long activities for the NUTRITION MONTH celebration of Tubigon was concluded last July 31 in a Culmination Program at the Tubigon Cultural and Sports Center, with the theme “Pagkain ng Gulay Ugaliin, Araw-araw Itong I-hain.” Spearheaded by the Municipal Nutrition Council, several activities were conducted in the municipal and barangay level such as the Healthy Barangay Award (Buenos), Well-Baby Contest, Outstanding Purok (Libertad), Oh My Gulay (Tan-awan), and Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar. Breaking the ice,a raffle draw took place giving away ten (10) P200.00 consolation prizes, 1 sack rice, 1 sofa bed, and a Samsung Corby II cellphone. Institutions such as the Holy Cross Academy, Salus Institute of Technology, Holy Family of Nazareth School, Tubigon West Central High School and Tubigon West Central Elementary School participated during the program were each of them rendered presentation numbers to entertain the crowd. Health Officer, Dr. Bob Batausa said, “the activity aims to promote the importance of vegetables in contributing to a healthy well-being.” Batausa added that this year, the municipality has once again been chosen as a Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) finalist, it’s second time. Moreover, SB Chairman on Health Hon.
