TUBIGON RANKS 26th in the OVERALL RANKING IN THE NCCI

By: Elaine Mae Ladeza TUBIGON-Despite being greatly hit by the catastrophe last year, Tubigon still managed to climb its way to the top as it ranked number 26 in the overall ranking in the National Competitiveness Council Index. The Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index is an annual ranking of Philippine cities and municipalities developed by the National Competitiveness Council through the Regional Competitiveness Committees (RCCs) with the assistance of the United States Agency for International Development and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).The rankings are based on data collected and submitted by the RCCs. The rankings of the cities and municipalities’ competitiveness are based on their overall competitiveness score. This is the sum of the scores on the three main pillars (economic dynamism, government efficiency and infrastructure). The scores are then determined by the values of the actual data and the completeness of the submitted data. The local government officials can utilize this index in assessing its competitiveness and be able to identify the areas that needs to be improved that can be an aid in policy-making, development planning and investment promotion. The local government unit of Tubigon, through the Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO), took all means and exerted effort to be able to collect and issue permits for enterprises as the year opens until at present time. This is another remarkable achievement of this municipality living by its bandwagon, “onward ever, backward never”. TUBIGON ENTERS INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH ZSL Phils.

By: Elaine Mae Ladeza TUBIGON-The Municipality of Tubigon entered into a memorandum of agreement with a non-governmental organization named Zoological Society of London-Philippines (ZSL Philippines) on August 14, 2014 at the Monina’s Midtown Inn and Restaurant for the project called “Linking community resilience and sustainable coastal protection in the Philippines. Being a municipality with coastal barangays and marine protected areas, Tubigon is grateful with the presence of NGOs who are willing to extend a hand and assisting this municipality in managing the coastal and marine areas. This project primarily aims to enhance the community’s capacity in protecting and sustainably managing its coastal and marine resources. This partnership will be able to reverse the declining trend in local fisheries and rebuilding for a more resilient livelihood. The Zoological Society of London-Philippines (ZSL-Phils.) role in this partnership does not only ends in providing financial support as well as the technical aspect of the project. They are responsible in data-gathering, monitoring and assisting its partner in conducting information and education campaign to its recipients. They are also tasked to build-up the capacity of its partner and recipient in the rehabilitation and management aspect. On the other hand, this municipality is expected to provide the support needed for the project by providing assistance to its partner and taking the lead.
